Health Care Participation
You are eligible to enroll for health care coverage if you are a full-time or part-time employee represented by the IBEW, ESC, or SEIU, regardless of whether you are a probationary employee or have reached regular status. Participation begins on the first day of the month following receipt of your elections, provided you complete and return an enrollment form to the PG&E Benefits Service Center within 31 days of your date of hire or transfer into a union-represented position. For example, if you were hired on February 1 as a union-represented employee, and you return a completed form on February 15, your elections would be effective on March 1.
New hires who do not enroll within 31 days will be required to wait until the next Open Enrollment period to enroll, with coverage effective January 1 of the following year, unless you have an eligible change-in-status event before then.
You are not eligible to enroll for active employee health care coverage if you are a contractor, agency, or hiring hall employee or a retiree of the Company (unless you are a retiree who has been rehired as a regular employee). Intermittent employees and other temporary employees who are not expected to become regular employees are also not eligible for coverage.
