Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs)
In the event a participant is divorced, ERISA permits the division of the participant's Plan account between the participant and certain other beneficiaries pursuant to a QDRO. The Plan Administrator will determine the qualified status of any domestic relations order for a participant who is divorced or legally separated. The Plan will also oversee the disbursement of Plan assets to the participant and the spouse, former spouse, child, or other dependent named in a QDRO as having a right to receive benefits in the Plan.
Domestic relations orders include any judgment, decree, or order (including approval of a property settlement agreement) that relates to child support, alimony payments, or marital property rights and that is made pursuant to state domestic relations laws (including community property law). You can obtain a free copy of the QDRO procedures or a sample QDRO by calling the PG&E Benefits Service Center at 866-271-8144 (open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time).
Once the divorce is finalized, you may want to change your beneficiary designation. You can change your beneficiary designation at any time by logging onto NetBenefits℠ at www.401k.com or by calling Fidelity's RSP Service Center at 877-PGE-401K (877-743-4015).
